What is a Magazine
Website?
A magazine website is a huge site that contains all kinds of articles on your
chosen topic or that your target market is interesting in reading. A magazine
site may publish content once or several times per day, but there are no
strict rules on how often you need to publish.
These sites are
terrific for building traffic and establishing your reputation in your market.
With so much content, you’ll likely receive plenty of traffic through search
engines and your traffic builds through word-of-mouth because you offer such
great information. It's also a good opportunity to display advertising from
Google Adsense or advertisers who purchase ads from you directly.
However, portal sites, in our experience, don’t always convert to sales or
opt-ins as readily as a smaller, more focused site. This is likely because
there is just so much information and so many links on the site to distract
your visitor. They may just want to find everything on your website for free.
But is that a bad thing? Not at all. We already mentioned the
benefits of a portal site – free traffic, establishing your reputation in your
market and advertising revenue.
However, I don't put whole affiliate
marketing strategy into a portal site. Make sure you're building a mailing
list, create more topic-focused websites and adding to your online release
estate. Once you’ve built up huge streams of traffic to your magazine site
(most of which will be free), you can direct all that traffic into your
higher-converting mini-sites – creating a steady stream of traffic to your
network of websites.
